Edward Markwei
Edward is a Ghanian Artist, self-taught, not afforded the opportunity to have received formal training. Edwards style of painting portrays male/female semi-abstract figures and symbols through expressionism as he uses a variety of mediums to accentuate his style. Experimenting with various painting styles and mediums, Edward has develop a mixed-media style combining abstract and figurative overtones to display a 3D affect. Mediums used by Edward include fabrics, acrylic, pastels, charcoal, watercolor and paper. The theme behind Edwards works center around feminism in a cultural/traditional display which in his words, "allows me to give respect and pay homage to the women and queen mother's of Ghana."
