Eric Malagon

Eric is a Self-taught Cuban Artist producing works of art in which describes as expressionist realism. In Eric's own words, ""My works consists of a "photorealistic with a painterly touch"; capturing the realism of a photograph, but leaving a space for a non-real color provided by a painting". Eric contends that his work stays true to the social reality and critical self-awareness of his people. Many of Eric's paintings encompass an African presences and mystique. Eric admitted that he's attracted by the strength and culture of the Afro-Cubans and feels a natural connection when portraying this on canvas. "Cuba is a meeting point between European and African cultures, and has been nurtured by many others in the world. "Therefore, our culture is very broad and diverse."
